The Advance of the Lord’s Recovery Today.
The church is slowly reading through the above book, progressively to encourage us to follow the ministry more closely and we as the church are preparing ourselves to be the Bride. For our use in laying hold of such a practice, we are summarizing the crucial chapters with the intent of repeated review, study and spiritual digestion, this view would become our constitution and daily living.
Chapter 1: The four major items of the advance of the Lord's recovery today are (1) the priesthood of the gospel in the New Testament, (2) the organic building up of the Body of Christ, (3) the perfecting of the saints by the gifts, and (4) the prophesying for the building up of the church as the organic Body of Christ. The Lord desires to recover these four big, crucial, major things missed among His people.
The New Testament teaches us clearly that all the believers are priests, not individualistic priests, but in a corporate priesthood (Rev. 1:5b-6; 1 Peter 2:5,9; Rom. 15:16)
Paul was a pattern of the New Testament priests fo the gospel of God, by bearing God's image, expressing God, and having God's authority, representing God. Paul was a person who always exercised his spirit, taught much concerning our human spirit, and used his spirit to contact God, to receive God. He enjoyed Christ as the life-giving Spirit in his spirit, and he enjoyed Christ as his life. In Philippians 3:10 he expressed his desire to know Christ and the power of His resurrection that he might be conformed to the death of Christ. A New Testament priest is a person in the experience of Christ's death and in the enjoyment of Christ's resurrection power. As priests, we must also be persons very close to God, one with God, knowing God's will, God's heart, and receive God's oracle to speak for God. Then we must be those who bring God to man to impart God into man and who bring man back to God to make man one with God.
The main offering of the Old Testament priests were types of Christ, but the main offering of the New Testament priests is Christ experienced by the sinners. To serve God is to handle the gospel, to preach the gospel in order that Christ might be imparted to others, dispensed to others, become members of Christ's Body to be expressed in many localities. This is the preaching of the gospel, the New Testament priesthood.
The gospel is God's New Testament economy, and to preach such a gospel is the New Testament ministry. To preach Christ until His Body is constituted and expressed in different localities so that many local churches will be raised up to preach the gospel of God, which equals God's New Testament economy.
